Oyo APC Alleges Makinde Planning to Divert State Funds to Atiku
The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Seyi Makinde of plotting to channel state funds to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that such a move would be “vehemently resisted.”
In a statement issued on Thursday by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the party alleged that discussions at a reported closed-door meeting between Makinde and Atiku in Minna centred on a possible joint presidential ticket under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The APC described the alleged plan as “selfish and dangerous,” accusing both politicians of desperation. It further claimed that Atiku has a history of relying on southern governors to sponsor his presidential ambitions.
The opposition party also alleged mismanagement of public funds and warned against any “down payment” arrangement to secure a political alliance.
It insisted that Oyo State resources must not be used to finance personal political ambitions.
