Our Votes Must Count in 2027, Says Peter Obi
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to stay vigilant during the 2027 general elections, stressing that every vote must be counted.
In a post titled “Our Votes Must Count” on his official X handle on Monday, Obi called on citizens to remain at polling units after voting to witness the counting and transmission of results, describing public participation as vital to protecting democracy.
“Unlike in the past, in 2027 our votes MUST count. Anyone present not to count the votes will be counted among those destroying Nigeria,” he warned.
Obi also cautioned that anyone trying to obstruct the electoral process would face legal consequences.
“Those who refuse to allow the votes count will face the full weight of the law against rigging,” he said.
He added that undermining the election process equates to damaging the country’s democratic future.
“If you do not count our votes, we will count you among those who destroy our democracy and our future, and you must answer to the law,” Obi stated.
