The Oyo State Police Command has foiled a planned terrorist attack on a rural community following a swift intelligence-led operation.

The command said about 10 armed men were discovered hiding in a farm settlement in Elebe Village, via the Aleniboro area, where they allegedly planned to strike under the cover of darkness.

According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, credible information from a concerned resident prompted immediate action.

The Divisional Police Officer in Tede alerted the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, who ordered reinforcement and tactical deployment to the location.

Security operatives, supported by local hunters, engaged the suspects in a gun duel after coming under fire.

Two of the attackers were neutralised, while others fled with suspected gunshot wounds.

Recovered items included a locally made pistol, cartridges, ammunition shells, suspected Indian hemp, mobile phones and other materials.

The area has been secured, with ongoing surveillance to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
