Police Arrest, Arraign Four PDP Leaders In Ekiti
A former Attorney General of Ekiti State, Barrister Owoseni Ajayi, has condemned the arrest and arraignment of four leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the police Rapid Response Squad.
The arraignment took place at a Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti following their invitation over alleged vandalism and theft at the party’s secretariat in Ajilosun.
Those affected include the state PDP Chairman, Rt. Hon. Tunji Opeyemi; former Chairman, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe; State Secretary, Mr. Kole Abiodun; and Mr. Gani Salau, media aide to the party’s 2026 governorship candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede.
Ajayi described the police action as “totally uncalled for,” arguing that the matter was a civil dispute relating to property ownership rather than a criminal issue.
He maintained that the secretariat belongs to the PDP and noted that no legitimate claimant had presented evidence to the contrary. According to him, any disagreement over title should be resolved in a civil court, not through arrests and criminal prosecution.
