Court Grants N10m Bail To Ozekhome Over Alleged Forgery
A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama on Friday granted bail of N10 million each to Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Mike Ozekhome and his co-defendant, Ponfa Useni, shortly after their arraignment on a 12-count criminal charge filed by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (OAGF).
The defendants pleaded not guilty to allegations that include forging documents such as an international passport and an irrevocable power of attorney to claim ownership of a property in London, allegedly obtained unlawfully by the late General Jeremiah Useni.
During proceedings, prosecuting lawyer Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) did not oppose the bail applications filed by Tayo Oyetibo (SAN) for Ozekhome and F. R. Onoja (SAN) for Useni.

Justice Chizoba Oji granted each defendant bail of N10 million, with a surety who must own property in the FCT.
She also ordered them to deposit their international passports with the court.
The judge stated that, since the proceedings were held on Friday, the defendants may return home if they are unable to meet the bail conditions immediately, but must return on Monday to do so, failing which they would be remanded in prison.
