The campaign posters of a factional candidate of the Accord Party in Osun State, Mr Clement Bamigbola, have surfaced in Osogbo, Ilesa, Ile-Ife, Iragbiji and many other towns.

This is despite the Independent National Electoral Commission’s recognition of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the candidate of the party for the August 15 poll.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that Adeleke on December 09, 2025, officially joined the Accord Party.

Adeleke announced his decision during a stakeholders meeting held at the Banquet hall of the Government House in the presence of national and state leaders of the Accord Party.

The day after, the governor emerged as the candidate of the party during its primary election held in Osogbo.

OSUN DEFENDER gathered that after the exercise, Adeleke was declared candidate with 145 delegates’ votes.

However, four days after Governor Adeleke emerged as the governorship candidate of the Accord party, another faction of the party held its own governorship primary, where Mr Clement Bamigbola emerged as the faction’s governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun State election.

300 delegates of the Accord Party across Osun State elected Bamigbola as the factional party candidate during the exercise held at Regina Suite, Osogbo.

He emerged after a voice vote by the delegates and the electoral committee. Mr Olufemi Ogundare was pronounced elected as the candidate of the party for the 2026 poll.

But the camp of the governor and the factional chairman of the Accord party, Pastor Victor Akande, dismissed the primary that elected Bamigbola, noting that he was sponsored by the opposition and not a member of the party.

Also, the Independent National Electoral Commission said it was not informed of the parallel exercise that elected Bamigbola.

“We have monitored the only Accord Party primary a few days ago. The report has been submitted. INEC is not aware of any other party’s primary,” INEC Public Relations Officer in the state Mr Musa Olurode said.

Meanwhile, the poster of the factional candidate was sighted at Testing Ground, Oke Baale, Uniosun way, Ogo Oluwa, Ogo Oluwa and Ilesa Garage.
