Coup Plot: Military Officials Only Trying to Buy Tinubu’s Loyalty — Sowore

Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has commented on the detention of soldiers accused of plotting a coup against President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking at a press conference organised by the wives of the detained soldiers on Friday, Sowore alleged that some military officials are attempting to secure the President’s loyalty.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that the wives had urged the government to either formally charge their husbands in court or release them.

After the conference, Sowore said, “From the families of the 120 detained military officers, it is clear there is no evidence of a coup. It appears to be high-level officials trying to buy the President’s loyalty and instil fear—a common tactic to control those in power.

“We are committed to ensuring justice is served. I have witnessed many cases where individuals were accused of plotting coups they never carried out.”
