Residents of Bilbis town in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State are reportedly gripped by fear after bandits imposed a curfew on the community and demanded a ₦30 million levy.

The town, which is the hometown of Senator Ikira Aliyu Bilbis representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, was said to have been locked down by the gunmen who warned residents not to step outside until the money is paid.

According to a social media report by Bakatsine (@DanKatsina50), the attackers ordered residents to remain indoors and threatened violence if their demand is not met.

“People are terrified. Everyone has been ordered indoors, and no one can leave until the ransom is paid,” Bakatsine wrote on X.

Residents said the development has disrupted normal life in the area, bringing trade, schooling and other daily activities to a halt.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the community is living in fear over possible attacks.

“We are living in constant fear. Nobody knows when the bandits will strike next. The town feels like it’s under siege,” the resident said.
