Ilesa Accidental Discharge Victim Reportedly Detained Over N150k Hospital Bill
One of the victims of the October 11, 2025, accidental discharge in Oke Iro, Ilesa, Osun State, Aina Oladipupo, is reportedly being detained at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, due to the inability to settle the hospital bill.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that a security guard, reported to be a member of the Nigerian Forest Security Service, shot in the direction of attendees at a funeral party in Ilesa, killing a 14-year-old boy in the process.
The misfired shots also injured many people, including the 14-year-old Oladipupo.
A journalist, Isaac Haastrup, who issued an update on the matter in a post on his Facebook page, said a fundraising effort was earlier launched for Aina.
He noted that after two successful surgical operations on the victim’s chin, the girl remained detained at the security post as she still owed the hospital one hundred and fifty thousand naira.
Haastrup added that the victim’s mother, Mrs Adeola Oladipupo, told him that the hospital terminated treatment and discharged the victim due to her inability to continue paying for sustenance and medication.
“To assist the ill-fated 14-year-old victim, you can pay your widow’s mite to this UBA Account: 2380226190 Oladipupo Adeola,” the post concluded.
