Osun IPAC Election Postponed Indefinitely
The National leadership of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has postponed indefinitely, the election to elect new officials for the Osun State chapter of the council.
OSUN DEFENDER had earlier reported that there was uncertainty over the election which was scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 14 at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Osogbo.
However, the election which was slated for 10:00 a.m. was not held as of 2:20 p.m when OSUN DEFENDER arrived at the venue.
Sources said most of the chairmen of political parties in Osun have arrived at the venue as early as 9:30 waiting for the electoral committee. However, the chairmen left one after the other when the committee did not show up.
It was further gathered that some of the political party chairmen who left the venue, went to meet with the electoral committee, which arrived Osogbo, the state capital on Friday at the hotel where they were lodged.
Announcing the postponement in a short statement, IPAC National Organisation Secretary, Chinyere O Kalu, said a new date would be communicated.
She, however, did not state the reason for postponing the election.
“This is to formally inform all stakeholders that the Osun State IPAC Election previously scheduled to hold on 14th of March has been postponed.

“The new date for the for the election will be communicated soon.
“We regret any any inconvenience this development may cause and also appreciate your understanding and continued cooperation,” the statement noted.
Meanwhile, one of the candidates vying for the chairmanship position of Osun IPAC, Dr Tosin Odeyemi who spoke with journalists shortly after the election was postponed, said he was convinced that he would win the poll whenever it is conducted.
He said, “We are ready for the election any day, any time. However, the electoral committee did not provide a specific date for the election now. We are waiting for the official communication, hoping a certain date will be fixed for it.
“I want to appreciate the electoral committee because when I was invited and they gave me the reasons why the election would be postponed, I agreed with them because I know it’s not about today.”
