UNIOSUNTH MDCAN Slams Sally Tibbot, Says Honorary Consultants Not Ghost Workers
•Accuses Consultant Of Irresponsibility, Shoddy Job
The Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Uniosun Teaching Hospital chapter has stated that Honorary consultants are employees of the Osun State University who were also employed in the teaching hospital.
According to the association, the honorary consultants received allowances and not salaries from the teaching hospital for services provided in patient care and teaching and training of medical students and resident doctors.
The clarification, according to a statement by the association chairman, Dr Olufemi Ojewuyi, became necessary following the comments made by Sally Tibbot Consulting that members of the association were earning salaries in two institutions.
The statement noted that contrary to Sally Tibbot’s position, the Honorary consultants are not ghost workers, adding that they only received allowances which is the standard practise.
The association said, “Honorary consultants are not ghost workers. They are primarily employees of the University, serving as lecturers, and also employed in the teaching hospital (as honorary consultants) where they receive allowances—not salaries—for services provided in patient care and the teaching and training of medical students and resident doctors, which is standard practice.
“The claim that our members earn salaries in two institutions is false and malicious. We urge Sally Tibbot Consulting to verify facts before making public statements.”
The association also said the allegations by Sally Tibbot that its members caused chaos are baseless and a gross distortion of facts, adding that the consulting firm and her staff were the ones who behaved unruly and uncultured during the exercise.

“We also wish to state that our members had their biometrics captured the same day the Vice-Chancellor had his own biometrics captured, and this was in public glare being recorded on camera, and none of us was unruly. If anything, Sally Tibbot Consulting and her staff were the ones who were unruly, uncultured, and garrulous in their approach.
“Her allegation that our members caused chaos is baseless and a gross distortion of facts, showcasing her irresponsibility. The fact remains that Sally Tibbot Consulting did a very shoddy job and should admit her incompetence,” the statement added.
The association advised Sally Tibbot Consulting to seek redress through the court of law rather than resort to social media theatrics and misleading the public.
