A statement by the command spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, said the NSCDC personnel on Thursday, 26th March, 2026, were on routine patrol to secure critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.

The statement stated that the officers directed one of the suspects, who was a tanker driver to park the vehicle for proper verification.

“However, the suspects were alighting from the truck when one of them poured water on the officer on duty.

“This action escalated into a fracas as the suspects started fighting the officers resulting in serious body injuries on the personnel of the Corps,” Adeleke added.

The state Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, who condemned the attack, stated that the suspects confessed to the crime and admitted responsibility.

The suspects, according to the statement were arraigned in court on charges bordering on conspiracy, obstruction of lawful duty and assault on a public officer in the discharge of his official responsibilities.

The Court remanded all the defendants and adjourned till Tuesday, 31st March 2026, for plea.

The Commandant, however, warned that the Corps will not tolerate any form of attack on its personnel or obstruction of its lawful duties.

He reiterated that anyone found culpable of such acts would be made to face the wrath of the law. He further assured the good people of Osun State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, while calling on members of the public to cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious activities to the nearest NSCDC office.
