Osun Council Pledges Support For Osogbo Rainstorm Victims
The leadership of Osogbo Local Government has pledged its support for residents and business owners affected by the devastating rainstorm that struck parts of the city on Saturday, leaving widespread destruction in its wake.
The rainstorm, accompanied by strong winds, caused significant damage to homes, shops, and public infrastructure, with many residents counting heavy losses as rooftops were blown off and properties destroyed.
In response to the incident, the management team of the Council on Sunday conducted an on-the-spot assessment of affected areas to evaluate the extent of the damage.
The team, led by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Onibonokuta Saheed, visited several communities and engaged with victims to better understand their immediate needs.
Speaking during the visit, the Chairman represented by his Vice, Badmus Akeem expressed deep sympathy with those impacted and assured them of the government’s readiness to provide necessary assistance.

He also commiserated with victims and reiterated the council’s commitment to alleviating their suffering.
Olaiya disclosed that the Local Government has set up a committee to assess the level of damage and recommend practical steps towards supporting affected individuals and families.
He explained that the initiative is part of efforts to ensure a coordinated and transparent response to the disaster.
Onibonokuta further directed victims of the rainstorm to report to the Osogbo Local Government Secretariat by 10:00 a.m. on Monday with photographic evidence of damaged properties.
According to him, the exercise is aimed at proper documentation and profiling to facilitate the provision of assistance to those genuinely affected.
Some residents, while expressing appreciation for the Council’s prompt response, called for swift intervention to help them recover from the losses incurred.
