The Osun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), is currently holding its Ward and Local Government Congresses today, Thursday, April 9.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chairman, Directorate of Media and Publicity of the party in the state, Abosede Oluwaseun, the ADC announced that all necessary arrangements were concluded for the exercise in line with directives from the national leadership under the chairmanship of David Mark and the National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola.
The party disclosed that screening exercises for aspirants at the Ward and Local Government levels were successfully conducted earlier in the week, while appeals arising from the process had also been duly addressed.
According to the statement, the congresses will be conducted either through consensus, in accordance with the party’s constitution, or by direct primaries where consensus cannot be reached.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that as early as 8am, members of the party had trooped to their respective wards to be a part of the exercise.
Members of the Congress Committee led by Hon. Mudashir Akinlade are also monitoring the process across the state.
Akinlade who addressed party members and chieftains in Osogbo, Ilesa West among others praised them for their commitment to the smooth conduct of the exercise.
He assured them that the committee will be fair to all, urging them to be peaceful and law abiding.
