A University of Jos student, John Arum, has been abducted and tortured by suspected bandits along the Jos–Kaduna highway, with the attackers demanding a ransom of N30 million for his release after kidnapping him alongside six other passengers.

The attackers were said to have intercepted the vehicle on the highway before whisking all seven occupants away to an unknown location.

In the disturbing video, abductors showed Arum being assaulted while in captivity, with the kidnappers using the footage to intensify pressure on his family and associates.

In the footage, the student was seen pleading for his life as he appealed for assistance in raising the demanded ransom.

The abductors also reportedly forced him to publicly state the circumstances of the kidnapping and the ransom demand while he was under duress.

The condition and whereabouts of the six other victims abducted alongside him remain unknown at the time of filing this report.

There has also been no confirmed communication with the families of the remaining victims regarding their status or possible ransom demands.

The incident has sparked concern among Nigerians, with calls for urgent intervention by security agencies to secure the release of the victims and apprehend those responsible.
