Ogun East: APC Leaders Endorse Dapo Abiodun After Locking Gbenga Daniel Out Of Meeting
Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East senatorial district have endorsed Dapo Abiodun, governor of the state, as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.
The decision was announced on Monday at a gathering held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode, which drew a broad coalition of party leaders, former and serving officials, and grassroots representatives from across the district.
This comes after the Senator representing the district and former governor, Gbenga Daniel was locked out of the meeting.
Lekan Mustapha, former Ogun East senator, who spoke on behalf of the stakeholders, said the endorsement reflected a collective conviction that Abiodun has the capacity to effectively represent the district in the senate.
“We will put a body together to deliver this message to our Governor that he has been adopted as the consensus candidate,” Mustapha said.
He added that party leaders would formally communicate the endorsement to Abiodun and purchase his nomination forms for the 2027 poll.
Tokunbo Talabi, secretary to the state government, described the endorsement as “historic and unanimous”, citing Abiodun’s track record in governance and party cohesion.
