The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified why some candidates sitting for the ongoing 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are seeing the “No Result Yet” message when checking their results.
The clarification was issued On Tuesday by JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
He said the board has received several complaints from parents over candidates encountering the “No Result Yet” status while checking their results.
“Please be informed that results for underage candidates have not been released.
“When such candidates attempt to check their results, the system will return the message ‘No Result Yet”, the statement reads.
Benjamin explained that the message does not indicate any technical fault in the system.
He said it applies specifically to candidates who are below the approved age requirement.
He stated that, in line with existing regulations, only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by 30th September 2026 are eligible to register for and sit the UTME.
He also noted that underage candidates may still be considered under an exceptional category if they demonstrate outstanding academic ability.
“In line with the agreement reached and endorsed by parents of these underage candidates, only those who score 320 and above will be shortlisted and invited to proceed to the next stages of the screening,” Benjamin added.
He further explained that candidates who meet the benchmark will also be required to perform strongly in subsequent assessments.
He said, “Successful candidates at that stage may then be considered for admission under the exceptional candidates provision. For now, results for underage candidates remain unreleased.”
JAMB had earlier released results for candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME on April 20.
On Sunday, the board released 1,264,940 results for examinations conducted on Friday and Saturday.
It also released 632,752 results from Thursday’s examination, bringing the total released before Monday to 1,897,692.
Some candidates had expressed concerns over delays in the release of Friday’s results.
They also complained about repeated deductions incurred while attempting to check their results multiple times.
However, the board dismissed calls for refunds, insisting it had not officially announced the release before Sunday.
