Adeleke In Dilemma Over Olaoluwa, Alao’s Senatorial Ambitions
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke is reportedly in a political dilemma over the Osun Central senatorial ambitions of two of his close allies – Gani Olaoluwa and Adekunle Alao.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that Olaoluwa who is the state Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, and the former Osun Federal Commissioner for the Public Complaints Commission, Alao are eyeing the senatorial ticket under the Accord Party.
Both men, alongside former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuf, have indicated interest in contesting the seat which is currently occupied by Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi who was elected under the Peoples Democratic Party but defected to the All Progressives Congress in 2025.
However, party sources told OSUN DEFENDER that the real contest is between Olaoluwa and Alao, both of whom enjoy strong ties with the governor.
“The situation has put Governor Adeleke in a tight place. Both are deserving of the ticket due to their loyalty and relationships with him,” one source said.
The source, a chieftain of the Accord Party in Osun who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Adeleke might have to offend one ally to please the other.
“It is a big dilemma. Both Olaoluwa and Alao are good friends of Mr Governor and they merit the ticket. Anyone in Adeleke’s shoes will find it difficult to pick one out of the two,” he said.
He however expressed confidence that the governor would manage the situation without fracturing the party.
“I believe strongly that the governor will resolve the issue and everyone will be happy. We are one big family and we will always resolve our issues in-house,” the chieftain added.
He did not rule out Hon. Lasun Yusuf, describing him as “a big political player” who has also shown interest.
“In all, Governor Adeleke will likely meet with them and ensure everything is in order,” the source noted.
