Nigerian entertainers have continued to make headlines with revelations about their careers, personal lives and future ambitions. From Davido opening up about politics and education to Nasboi’s strong stance on marriage, Carter Efe’s latest celebrity challenge, and veteran actor Dele Odule’s emotional confession, the entertainment industry has once again sparked conversations across social media.

Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that he would not halt his music career if he ever decides to take up a government position.

The singer said this during a recent livestream with Davrel, noting that he would still be performing as a musician even if he became a government official. He cited former Haitian President Michel Martelly as an example, who continued to perform and tour while in office.

He said, “I would still be performing if I ever chose to work for the government. That doesn’t stop anything, in my opinion.

“It won’t be as much as it was before, of course. Even while president of Haiti, Michel Martelly continued to perform as a musician. He even went on tours while serving as president.”

Davido further clarified that he is no longer interested in active politics, noting that he got discouraged after observing other Nigerian celebrities transition into politics.

The singer added that most Nigerian celebrities who transitioned from entertainment to politics have not been successful.

Meanwhile, Davido also disclosed plans to further his education, announcing that he will begin a Master’s degree in Political Science at a university in the United Kingdom next year.

The award-winning singer made the disclosure during the same livestream, where he clarified that his postgraduate studies would not be at Adeleke University, contrary to suggestions.

“I want to do my Master’s next year,” he said.

When asked if the programme would be at Adeleke University, Davido responded, “No, in UK, a one-year course in Political science. I have my BSc already.”

The singer added that the programme would run for one year, in line with many UK postgraduate courses, a move many fans have praised as a step toward personal development beyond music.

Elsewhere, popular skitmaker and singer Nasboi stirred reactions online after revealing that he considers public exposure of marital issues a dealbreaker in his relationship.

The content creator stated that he would end his marriage if his wife ever takes their private problems to social media for public discussion.

Nasboi, on his official X page on Tuesday, made it clear that while he is comfortable living as a public figure, he draws a firm line when it comes to his marriage.

“If she ever brings our private marital issues to the internet, I will divorce her,” he wrote.

The comedian’s remark quickly sparked debates online, with many Nigerians divided over whether his stance reflects healthy boundaries or controlling behaviour.

Supporters of Nasboi argued that marriage should remain private and that couples should settle disagreements away from social media.

Several social media users noted that once personal issues are posted online, they become permanent and can affect families, careers and even children in the future.

In January 2025, he had also affirmed that he wanted a private marriage away from public scrutiny.

Similarly, Nigerian skitmaker Carter Efe sparked fresh drama online after openly challenging Afrobeats superstar Wizkid to a boxing match.

The challenge came shortly after Carter Efe’s victory over Portable in a celebrity fight that reportedly earned him huge cash rewards.

Following the fight, businessman E-Money promised Carter Efe N50 million, while Portable later complained that the organisers denied him victory.

Days later, Carter Efe received the promised reward at E-Money’s residence, where singer KCee and music executive Soso Soberekon were also present.

During the celebration, Carter Efe declared that his next opponent should be Wizkid, saying he even wanted Wizkid’s son, Boluwatife, popularly known as Champz, to witness the fight.

“The person wey I wan fight now na Wizkid. Make he come collect the championship if he sure. Make Boluwatife and all of them come,” he said.

KCee, however, quickly distanced himself from the conversation, joking that he wanted to “go drink water,” a reaction that has since generated buzz online.

Meanwhile, veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule has emotionally revealed that he once reached a point of hopelessness where he went to price his own casket due to frustration over his life and career.

The actor disclosed this during an interview with Feelright TV, a clip of which surfaced online on Wednesday.

Recounting the experience, Odule said he was accompanied by fellow actor Olaiya Igwe, who became emotional during the visit.

Speaking in Yoruba, he said, “I had priced my own casket before, when I was in a state of hopelessness and complete loss of hope. Olaiya Igwe went there with me. Olaiya started crying like a baby.”

The actor explained that he was not battling illness at the time but had become discouraged by what he saw as a lack of progress compared to his peers.

“I wasn’t sick, I just believed I can no longer have breakthroughs in the industry. I was fed up because all my school mates are doing far better than me and my life was nothing to write home about,” he added.

Odule began his acting career in the 1970s and became widely known after starring in the Yoruba classic Ti Oluwa Nile.
