2027: Osun Accord Party Aspirant Calls Out Party Over Lack Of Clarity, Seeks Transparent Primary Process
Prince Jide Akinyooye, a House of Assembly aspirant for the Irepodun/Orolu State Constituency under the Accord Party, has called on the party to clarify the process for obtaining Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the primary election.
In a letter dated Tuesday and addressed to the Accord Party Chairman in Osun State, Mr Victor Akande, Akinyooye said the party had yet to release details on how aspirants could obtain the forms.
Akinyooye said that with the primary election scheduled to hold on May 21, 2026, aspirants need timely and clear information to prepare adequately.
The letter partly read, “As you are aware, the party has scheduled the primary election for 21st May, 2026. With the date fast approaching, aspirants within the constituency
require timely and unambiguous information on the following:
“The designated point of purchase and collection of the Expression of
Interest and Nomination Forms. The approved fees and acceptable modes of payment. The deadline for the purchase, submission, and screening of aspirants.
“Any additional requirements or documentation expected from aspirants
prior to the primary election.”
Akinyooye added that the lack of clarity on the procedures has created uncertainty among
aspirants and stakeholders in Irepodun/Orolu, noting that the situation risks undermining the
transparency and inclusiveness of the process.
“I respectfully request that the party Secretariat provide a formal circular or
directive outlining the above modalities without delay, to enable all interested aspirants to comply accordingly and prepare adequately for the primary election.
“I remain committed to upholding the values and constitution of our great party and trust that your office will act promptly to ensure a level playing field for all,” the letter added.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Accord Party chairman in the state proved abortive as of press time.
