There Are Plots To Eliminate El-Rufai — Timi Frank
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Timi Frank, on Sunday, alleged that there were plots to eliminate former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as he demanded the immediate release of the ex-governor and other opposition figures from detention.
Frank made the allegation in a statement while reacting to El-Rufai’s continued detention by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission over alleged corruption during his administration in Kaduna State.
The former APC deputy spokesperson claimed that some top officials in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu were allegedly behind the plot, citing information said to have been obtained from security sources.
According to him, any harm suffered by El-Rufai after his release from detention would raise serious concerns.
“I received a troubling call from a reliable source within the security agencies alleging that there are plots to eliminate Nasir El-Rufai, a strategic plan allegedly orchestrated by top appointees within the government and the presidency,” Frank stated.
At the weekend, El-Rufai’s family accused the commission of denying the former governor and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress access to food and medical attention.
Frank also alleged that some judicial officers were aiding what he described as prolonged detention through stringent bail conditions.
He further called for the release of businessman Tunde Ayeni, claiming that Ayeni was being persecuted over perceived political affiliations with the opposition.
“For instance, Tunde Ayeni has been discharged by the courts in previous cases brought against him by the EFCC. There are concerns that he is being targeted because of perceived political affiliations and sympathy for the opposition,” he said.
