The lawmaker representing Osun Central in the Senate, Olubiyi Fadeyi, has rejected the results of the party’s primary election, in which he lost the ticket for the 2027 general elections.

Olubiyi in a statement he personally signed, obtained in Osogbo on Tuesday, rejected the results of the exercise and declared that figures allocated to the aspirants were written in a hotel premises, insisting that no valid election took place.

It would be recalled that the chairman of the Osun APC National Assembly primary election committee, Mr Bayo Ayo, who read the result, said that Adekunle Adegoke (SAN) won the primary, defeating Fabiyi and three others.

Ayo further said, “Adegoke polled 26,655 votes to emerge victorious, while Fadeyi received 13,138 votes.”

Other aspirants for the ticket, Yomi Ogunwale scored 2,925, Akintunde Adegboye, 342 votes, while Olu Fakeye got 067 votes.

But Fadeyi, in the statement said, “No valid primary election was conducted on May 19 across the 116 wards in Osun Central Senatorial District.

“The exercise was deliberately manipulated to rig me out of the process. There was no official collation centre. Results were instead written in an undisclosed hotel in Osogbo,” Fadeyi said.

He added that President Bola Tinubu and party leaders were clearly in support of a consensus arrangement for the Osun Central Senatorial District and expressed concern that the agreement was ultimately disregarded.

He appealed to APC members and his supporters to remain calm and refrain from issuing statements on the matter going forward, assuring them that the mandate allegedly stolen “through the back door” will not stand.

Senator Fadeyi also reassured the people of Osun Central that “Appropriate party channels have been activated and will be duly followed to address the situation.”

He called on APC leaders in the state to urgently intervene in the matter, emphasising that he remains a leader with a good vision for the party.
