- We Have Presented The Best Fit – Campaign DG, Olanibi
The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam, on Monday unveiled a 10-point development agenda for the state, declaring that his ambition is to build “an Osun that works for all.”
Salaam made the declaration while presenting his manifesto at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Osogbo, where he outlined his administration’s plans for workers’ welfare, economic revitalisation, youth empowerment, healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, security and transparent governance.
Addressing party members, stakeholders and supporters, the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly said Osun possesses abundant human and natural resources but has continued to grapple with unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, insecurity and limited economic opportunities.
He said, “Today, I present myself before you with a clear vision and an unwavering commitment to building an Osun State that works for all.

“A state where workers and pensioners are valued, respected and prioritised. A state where our farmers are supported and agriculture becomes a major driver of economic prosperity. A state where our youths are empowered with skills, jobs and opportunities to thrive.”
The ADC candidate identified electricity as the foundation for economic development, promising to pursue an ambitious power agenda aimed at guaranteeing reliable electricity supply across the state.
According to him, improved power generation and distribution would stimulate industrial growth, attract investments and create thousands of jobs.
“Electricity is the engine of development. It powers industries, drives innovation, supports businesses, strengthens healthcare delivery, improves education and enhances the quality of life of our people.

“We believe that 24-hour power generation is possible. Through strategic investments, alternative energy solutions and effective public-private partnerships, we shall work tirelessly to provide reliable power infrastructure that will stimulate industrial growth, attract investors and create thousands of jobs across our state,” Salaam said.
He described the manifesto as a product of extensive consultations and engagements with residents, stressing that it represents a practical roadmap for rebuilding trust between government and the people.
The governorship hopeful said the document focuses on workers’ welfare, agricultural revolution, quality education, accessible healthcare, youth empowerment, women’s inclusion, infrastructural development, security enhancement, investment promotion and accountable governance.
“This manifesto is more than a collection of promises. It is a contract with the people. A contract founded on integrity, driven by compassion and guided by a clear vision of prosperity,” he added.

Salaam further called on residents to actively participate in the task of rebuilding the state, saying government alone could not achieve the desired transformation.
“The task of rebuilding Osun belongs to all of us. Together, we can create jobs, strengthen our economy, secure our communities, modernise our infrastructure and build a government that is accountable to the people,” he said.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Salaam Campaign Organisation, Segun Olanibi, described the ADC candidate as the most qualified contender in the race, urging residents to support his vision for the state.
Olanibi said the party had presented the best fit for Osun governorship, expressing confidence that Salaam’s experience, leadership credentials and development agenda would resonate with voters ahead of the August 15 election.
He maintained that the manifesto reflected the aspirations of the people and provided practical solutions to the socio-economic challenges confronting the state.
The event was attended by the ADC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Mrs Yemisi Agiri, members of the State Working Committee of the ADC led by Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, party leaders and stakeholders, members of the civil society, the media, among others.
