Accord Party Group Applauds Adeleke, Faults State Chairman
A group within the Osun State chapter of the Accord Party, under the aegis of Concerned Accord Foundation Members (CAFM), has applauded Governor Ademola Adeleke’s leadership style, noting that his entry into the party saved it from collapse.
The group, in a statement signed by its Director-General, Engr. Ambaliyu Amoo, said Adeleke, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party to seek re-election, has given the party a new lease of life and made it the leading political party in Osun State.
The statement, however, faulted the state chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, accusing him of sidelining members who were in the party before Governor Adeleke and his supporters joined.
It described a reported release by the spokesperson to the governor, Olawale Rasheed, where he described Mr Sunday Bisi as the ‘General Chairman of Accord/PDP’ as a right step in the right direction.
Amoo said, “Since Governor Adeleke adopted our party as the platform under which he would contest, Akande has turned himself into a mini-god.

“He disrespects party elders and the hierarchy at will. No member of the Accord Party has a say in the running of party affairs, as he makes decisions as if we are running a one-man show.
“His pride affected us even during our primary elections. Every single position was ultimately allocated to defectors from the PDP, leaving no elective position for those who had laboured for the Accord Party in Osun for years.
“He lacks negotiating power. Candidates who had represented us at different levels in past elections were jettisoned as if they were second fiddle, and Akande could not do anything.”
He, however, called on Governor Adeleke to address the issue and incorporate original Accord Party members into the scheme of things in the state.
“We hope that our opinions will start to count. An individual should not be cornering what is meant for party members. Once again, we say thank you, Mr Governor, and we promise our unflinching support for your second-term ambition,” Amoo added.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Accord Party state chairman proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
