Two WAEC Students, Motorcyclist Die In Rivers Road Crash
Two female students writing the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and a commercial motorcyclist lost their lives in a road accident along the Choba Bridge section of the East-West Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Wednesday.
The students were reportedly returning from their examination centre after sitting for their WAEC papers when the motorcycle conveying them collided with a moving truck.
According to sources, the victims had written their examination at Odoha Community Secondary School in Emohua Local Government Area before the crash occurred.
Three persons — the two female students and the motorcyclist — died in the accident, while several others sustained injuries and were taken to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Police operatives from the Choba Divisional Headquarters were deployed to the scene to maintain order.
A video circulating on social media showed the victims lying on the road after the crash.
As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had not issued any official statement on the incident.
