Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has declared that he would be re-elected on August 15, noting that Accord will be on the ballot and electorates’ votes will count.

The governor, who stated this on Tuesday in Osogbo, during the flag-off of his re-election campaign, said all legal steps were being taken to ensure the Accord party’s presence on the ballot.

The governor directed supporters to go to their voting units and canvass for Accord, stressing that the party remains duly registered despite political debates.

“Go out to all voting units, mobilise for the Accord. Our party remains a duly registered political party in this country,” he stated.

Speaking further, Adeleke expressed excitement over endorsements and defections recorded at the event, saying, “I have watched and listened to the many associations and groups that have endorsed my re-election today. I also welcome leaders and members of various groups that defected to Accord. I am indeed overwhelmed with joy and happiness.”

The governor assured new members of equal opportunities in the party.

Reviewing his performance in office, Adeleke said he had been faithful to his 2022 electoral promises, noting that “I diligently delivered on my electoral promises. I have been faithful to the delivery of good governance in our dear state.”

He listed some of his achievements to include payment of inherited half salary debts, cancellation of pension arrears, rehabilitation of schools, and upgrading of towns.

The governor also cited improvements in health, construction of a new stadium, and reforms in water supply.

Adeleke said his administration was also investing in agriculture, digital economy, budget transparency, and climate action.

Speaking further, the governor said if re-elected, he would run on an updated five-point agenda.

“Today, we are seeking a fresh mandate under an updated five-point agenda. I promise faithful implementation of the agenda after our victory on August 15th,” he promised.

Adeleke urged Osun residents to reject violence and warned against returning to what he described as dark ‘days’ of governance.

“Great people of Osun, we cannot and must not go back to the dark days. We must rise and defend our democratic rights. We cannot be intimidated in the exercise of our voting rights. This is our state, the cradle of Yoruba nation,” he said.

“By God’s grace and the people’s support, continuity shall prevail. We reject violence, and we declare our readiness to protect and defend our rights and our people,” Adeleke declared.
