The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Osun State, Dr. Najeem Salaam, has stated that his administration will give premium attention to safeguarding the state from external attacks through collaborations with traditional rulers in the state.

According to Salaam, traditional rulers are the closest to the grassroots, noting that they know the nooks and crannies of their domains.

He stated this during his campaign tour to Ife North and Ayedaade Local Governments on Tuesday in continuation of his tour to traditional rulers in the state.

“The major cause of insecurity in the country today is that we have taken away power from our traditional rulers. In the olden days, we have hunters and other means devised to protect our town and cities from external infiltration and attacks.

“By the special grace of God, the security of Osun will begin from each palace with our kings and chief contributing to make sure our people are safe. It’s not that we would neglect conventional securities, no. We will also strengthen them by providing incentives to be able to perform their constitutional duties.”

The governorship candidate also reiterated his commitment to providing free education for children from primary to secondary level and free health care service in all public hospitals for children from the age of 1-18.

More so, he promised stipends for the disabled and employment of 20,000 youths into O-YES.

Also speaking during the visits, the Osun ADC Chairman, Alhaji Isa Adesiji urged members of the party to continue mobilisation.

Alhaji Adesiji assured residents of the state that the party will deliver on its campaign promises.
