Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) has exposed an alleged plan by those it called electoral criminals of some political parties to falsify the card reading machine of Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the Saturday’s governorship election in Osun.
The electoral criminal according to the party, have perfected plan to ensure that several people can use the PVC without the card reader uploading the photograph to identify who owns it.
The Chairman of the party, Prince Gboyegba Famodun during a press conference at the party Secretary in Osogbo, alleged that some National Youth Corps members accredited by INEC have agreed to cooperate with some parties in carrying out the criminal act.
He disclosed that the alleged rigging plan had been used successfully during the last Osun West Senatorial bye election, which resulted to the victory of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by having more votes than it would have had legitimately.
He added that the activities were carry out by youth corpers in charge of the operation of the device.
Famodun claimed that the rigging technique was executed at a critical time during the accreditation process, alleged that the victory of PDP in the election is encouraging them to extend the plan throughout the state in the Saturday poll.
According to him, the party intentionally refused not to react to the result of the election, saying it was later known to APC after the election.
He urged electoral the INEC to allow party agents to scrutinise the verification process in order to confirm the PVC holder’s image on the card reader.
Famodun also urged security agents to equally be involved in the process to jointly expose the act.
He said, “As a result of this concerning development, the APC is urging INEC to allow party agents scrutinise the verification process in order to confirm the PVC holder’s image on the card reader.
“Security agents should equally be involved in the process so that the youth corpers who will be used to perform this fraud directly during the verification process should be under strict observation to ensure that that card readers are not compromised”, he insisted.
APC Chairman stressed that youth corpers who will handle the card readers need to be supervised and protected from desperate politicians who will do everything criminal to win against all odds.
