‘A Broke Politician With No Moral Value’, Netizens Slam Senator Hussain Over Reaction To Aregbesola’s Comments
Netizens have slammed a former lawmaker who represented Osun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Mudashiru Hussain, over his statement on a comment made by former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola.
Aregbesola had during the public launch of ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi’s memoir, ‘The Loyalist,’ in Abuja on Tuesday, said that elections are ultimately decided by the people, not political officeholders.
The ADC National Secretary cautioned the All Progressives Congress against overreliance on governors for electoral victories, stating that the 2023 election results in the South West and South East regions confirmed this.
But Hussain in a statement reacting to Aregbesola’s comments warned against what he described as a selective interpretation of Nigeria’s democratic experience.
Hussain said Aregbesola’s remarks oversimplified the country’s electoral process and ignored the historical role of leadership, party structure and long-term political organisation in shaping electoral outcomes.
He, however, acknowledged that the will of the people remains central to democracy.
“Democracy thrives on the will of the people, but that will is shaped, mobilised and protected by credible political leadership,” Husain said. “To suggest otherwise is to reduce a complex democratic process to a single factor,” Hussein stated
However, netizens who reacted to Hussein’s statement on social media, called the former lawmaker out, describing him as a ‘politician who no longer holds any value’.
A Facebook user, Adeyemi Ibrahim, while reacting to Hussain’s statement, wrote, “It shouldn’t come from this man, who knows nothing than to run here and there because of what he wants to be fed with.
“After losing senatorial seat to Ademola Adeleke, he came to serve under Aregbesola as a commissioner a position solely created by the Governor for him to have something to eat. And when Oyetola did not give him any appointment, Aregbesola as a minister pushed him for NPC post and was everyday seen with the same Aregbe he’s now criticising.
“Now that he lost the candidacy of APC governor which obviously he can’t even win the primary not talking of real election. He quick pitch tent with President for ‘marimaje'”.
Another Facebook user with the name, Lanre Iwo, in his reaction, said Hussain was the foundation of Osun APC Problem because Aregbesola picked him out of love for the Osun West Senatorial seat.
He wrote, “The Hussein who was stoned with pure water in Iwo because he failed Iwoland when he was in Senator representing Osun West. The Same Hussein who can not secure the Senatorial ticket for himself without the help of RAUF but Osun West failed him because we had tested his capacity politically and administratively he lacks it.
“The same Hussein who was the first problem and foundation of Osun APC Problem during the tenure of RAUF as Governor when RAUF picked him out of love after Senator Isiaka Adeleke died on active duty chai politics.
“The same Hussein who was given National Population Commissioner with the help of RAUF during the tenure of late Former president Muhammad Buhari.
“The same senator Hussein who said the HOME COMING OF OGBENI after completing his years of service as interior minister that, he may not be found or recognised in active politics if not the help of OGBENI
“The same Hussein who said he will never betray or disappoint Ogbeni because he was is benefactor. Thank you Senator Mudasiru Hussein for this ungratefulness.”
Adeniyi Ojo, wrote, “The Mudashiru Hussein I know who was a two-term House of Representatives and a term Senator but later appointed by Aregbesola as a Commissioner in Osun State to save him. He wanted to contest for the governorship position but couldn’t buy the form but could go and had a handshake with the Nigerian President. Leave Hussein alone, he will soon be rewarded with ‘ere itiju.”
“A serious politician can not take Muda serious because hunger is killing him. The person wey show interest in vying for governor but later he can’t purchase the nomination form,” Adegoke Muritada stated in his comment.
