A gold miner and his driver who were abducted two weeks ago along Ilesa-Osogbo road by some unknown gunmen have been released after paying a sum of N20 million.
The principal gold miner, Musibau Adepoju and his driver, whose name could not be ascertained, were abducted on Friday, July 29, 2022.
It was gathered that the driver was conveying Adepoju in an excavator caterpillar to Osogbo from Ilesa when the incident happened.
The kidnappers had earlier demanded for a sum of N100m ransom from Adepoju’s family before they later reduced it to N50m and eventually N20m.
A family source informed OSUN DEFENDER that the victims were released safely on Wednesday after paying the N20m ransom to their captors.
“Alhaji and his driver have been released but we paid N20 million to the people that kidnapped them. We have to beg them before they can collect the ransom from us. Nowhere is safe again in this country,” the source told the medium.
