Abducted Islamic School Student Dies In Captivity

The body of one of the abducted Islamic children, who died in captivity, has been discovered a few kilometres away from Tegina town.

The three-year-old was one of the 156 children abducted from the Salihu Tanko Islamic School in Tegina a week ago.

The father of one of the abducted students, Tanko Zegi, confirmed the death of the child.

However, the cause of death remains unknown.
Parents of the abducted children and the Tegina community have expressed disappointment over the way the State Government has treated the incident.
They recalled a week after the incident, there had been no government delegation to condole with the community over the situation.
The parents also stated only the Local Government Council Chairman, Ismaila Modibbo, has been joining hands to see how the money will be raised to ensure the children are rescued unhurt.
Niger Police Command and the State Government are yet to release a statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
