Mercy Ishaya, a 25-year-old lady from New Bwari community in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, has regained her freedom after bravely exposing the gunmen who abducted her.
The abduction, which occurred on August 28, 2024, also left her father, Godiya Ishaya, a businessman, severely injured after the kidnappers attacked him, leaving him in a pool of blood.
Mercy’s ordeal came to an end when soldiers intercepted a Toyota Sienna transporting the bandits, who were attempting to flee a military offensive in Dogon-Daji Forest, located in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A family member of the victim told City & Crime that upon stopping the bus, the girl immediately spoke out, telling the soldiers that she was abducted by the suspects and gave her father’s phone number to the soldiers.

He said the girl was taken to the hospital before reuniting with her family while the suspects were taken to a military barracks in Kaduna.
Abubakar Hussaini, the commander of vigilantes in Tafa Local Government Area, confirmed the incident, commending the efforts of the military in ensuring Mercy’s safe return.
