Niger Tornadoes head coach Abubakar Bala is not a satisfied man despite his side’s 2-1 win over visiting Lobi Stars in a Matchday 17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja on Sunday.
Ibrahim Babawo’s brace was enough to see Tornadoes over the line and claim all the three points at stake.
The defender turned striker scored in the seventh and 66th minute of the game before Luther Iyorhe’s goal for Lobi Stars halved the deficit.
Despite the win, Bala told supersport.com that he is not happy with his team’s output and will have to correct some of the flaws noticed in the game.
“I’m glad we won but I’m not satisfied with the way we played. We didn’t control the game the way that I wanted especially towards the end of the first half,” he said.
“That was when Lobi started growing in confidence after we took our foot off the pedal. We were controlling the game but then decided to relax before the first half finished.
“That was the issue for me and it was the genesis of the goal scored by Lobi. My team relaxed a bit and it nearly cost us today.
“We definitely have to correct this flaws before the next game as we are going away (to play Shooting Stars). We don’t have a choice but to work on the mistakes that I saw today,” Bala added.
Niger Tornadoes are currently fourth on the NPFL log with 27 points from 17 matches.
