Accidents In Ogun Claim 2 Lives, Leave 9 Injured
Separate accidents at two locations on the Lagos/Ibadan expressway has claimed two lives. While the first accident, involving three vehicles, happened at the Danko filling station area on the expressway, the other accident occurred at the Redeemed Church Headquarters axis of the road.
The vehicles involved in the first accident included one Toyota Avensis car with registration number AKD 444 EM.
The other cars were a Nissan Pathfinder SUV, marked LSP 836 DL, and a Mazda car with registration number LSD 822 BR.
The three vehicles were on their way to Lagos from Ibadan when the accident happened.
Mr Clement Oladele, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Ogun, who confirmed the accident, blamed it all on speeding.
Oladele said four persons — one male and three females — were left injured in the accident and taken to Idera Hospital in Sagamu for medical attention.
He said the remains of the deceased, a female, had been deposited at the morgue of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH).
In the other accident, one life was lost to at the Redeemed Church of God axis of the expressway, while five other persons were injured.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident.
Akinbiyi said it involved a 14-seater Toyota Hiace bus, with registration number DRZ 360 XA, which was heading to Lagos from Kano.
He said the vehicle hit a faulty crane by the roadside.
The TRACE PRO explained that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of Fakoya hospital, while the vehicle was moved to the Mowe Police Station.
