The All Progressives Congress in Osun State, APC, has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of turning the state into a “theatre of violence and killings” ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

The party, in a statement on Sunday by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, said some of its members were seriously wounded on Saturday by alleged hoodlums wearing Amotekun uniforms in Okinni, Egbedore Local Government Area.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that the Accord Party had earlier alleged that some hoodlums working for the APC attacked its members on Saturday night at the Okinni area of the state.

Accord Party chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, in a statement, said the attack was targeted at individuals known to be Accord sympathisers, adding that the victims were receiving treatment at the emergency ward of the Osun State Teaching Hospital.

But the APC, in its statement, said: “Some suspected Accord Party hoodlums dressed in Amotekun uniforms stormed the community in a Toyota Sienna bus and a Forerunner Jeep, firing sporadically in the community.”

The APC said the target of the attack was its member, Mr Muideen Oyeladun, popularly known as ‘Akilapa’, who was said to be relaxing in his wife’s shop with political allies after a social function.

It further said that “The attackers descended on the shop, shooting at everyone in sight, and while some managed to flee, several others were hit by bullets and collapsed in pools of blood as the assailants sped away into the night.”

The party added that the wounded members were rushed to a private hospital in Osogbo for treatment, and described the attacks as “becoming unbearable” and a daily occurrence few weeks to the governorship election.

“Is it by force that the people of Osun State must be served by the reactionary administration of Governor Adeleke?” it asked.

“As a peace-loving party which believes in the rule of law, we shall continue to appeal to the police not to relent in their efforts to fish out the sponsors and foot soldiers of the needless attacks on our members by the hit squad of the governor,” Olabisi said.
