A video circulating on social media captures actor Aremu Afolayan apologizing to his older brother, Kunle Afolayan, during their mother’s service of songs in Komu, Oyo State.
The brothers, sons of the late renowned filmmaker Ade Love, had been estranged for years due to public personal differences.
The feud began to attract widespread attention in 2018 after Aremu made controversial statements regarding their father’s financial status, which Kunle publicly denounced.
The fallout intensified when Aremu made further disparaging comments about the family’s support, including a notorious Instagram video in 2023 where he criticized his family for failing to buy him a car.
However, the brothers publicly reconciled during the wake-keep ceremony for their late mother, Omoladun Afolayan. Kunle acknowledged the age gap between them, stating, “One thing I want to tell all his (Aremu’s) friends is that I’m not his brother but his father. Ask him; I trained him. I’m ten years older than him, but you, his female friends, push him. But love conquers all.”

Aremu, on his part, expressed regret for his past actions, notably his behavior on social media, and praised Kunle for his generosity, including building a house for their mother.
He said, “I’m sorry for putting you (Kunle) through the Instagram backlash. It’s because I love you.”
Aremu also reflected on their tumultuous relationship and credited their late mother for praying for their reconciliation.
“My mother tried a lot because I had run away from her many times when they said I should go to school, and I said I am not going to High School. My brother (Kunle) punched me for why I didn’t want to go to school,” he said.
Their mother, Omoladun Afolayan, passed away on November 2, 2024, at the age of 81.
