More heads may roll in Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party following last week expulsion of five members of the party and reported plots to “pull down” the chairman of the party, Hon. Soji Adagunodo.
Reliable sources on Saturday hinted that strong allies of Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governorship candidate of the party, were gunning for immediate suspension of the Osun PDP chairman.
The plots, according to a PDP leader, had sparked extreme anger and cold war among the party stakeholders, concerned leaders and members who knew about the matter.
This was coming days after expulsion of Messers Awosiyan Olalekan Kingsley, Ojetade Thomas, Awodire Sina Peter, Olatunji Rasheed Olabayo and Oluwasegun Idowu from the party over alleged insubordination and gross anti-party activities.
Some of the party leaders had kicked against the plots, urging those behind the moves to desist from plots and calming that the moves could shattered the aspirations of the party.
According to a leader of the party who spoke on condition of anonymity, “the Adelekes don’t feel comfortable with the chairman. He would have been suspended after the governorship primaries but reason prevailed.
“Throughout the campaign period and after, the Adelekes took absolute control of the party and relied on a South West official of the party who hails from Osun for crucial political and strategic planning and decisions.
“There were plans to make the Osun born regional leader of the party a defacto chairman but, against all odds, Adagunodo did not lose grip of the party.
“I can confirm there are new plots to frustrate and pull down Adagunodo. But, we will do everything in our power to resist it and any attempt to derail the party.
“As a peace-loving party man, I am praying for the success of our party and senator Ademola at the Supreme Court. Those who are plotting against the man who had sacrificed a lot and laboured so much to put the party on victory path are feral and the real enemies of PDP.
“I am hoping for nothing but the best, and praying that our party coast home to victory at the apex court. The doubting Thomases thinking otherwise and mulling the plots against the chairman are louts. They are irresponsible and we are ready for them.”
