ADC Alleges APC Plot To Stage Fake Protest Against David Mark
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to stage a fake protest against its National Chairman, Senator David Mark, following the defection of former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to the party.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, made the allegations on his X handle on Wednesday, saying the APC has resorted to sponsoring a paid crowd after failing to pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove the David Mark-led leadership.
Abdullahi added, “Yesterday, we disclosed a sinister plot by agents of the ruling APC government to pressure INEC into taking illegal action to destabilise our party. After meeting a brick wall with INEC, they have now changed tactics, but the objectives remain the same.”
According to the ADC, the public protest is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, in Abuja, reportedly sponsored by a “particularly notorious minister.”
The organisers are said to hope that the protest will create “public pressure” to recognise a former member, who resigned and was expelled from the ADC, as National Chairman.
“The plan is simple: a paid crowd, posturing as aggrieved party members, will take to the streets demanding ‘David Mark Must Go,’” the statement said.

The ADC accused the APC of trying to hijack the leadership of what it described as “the only viable opposition party left in the country.”
“They are not just afraid of our momentum. They fear what happens when Nigerians start paying attention and begin to believe that change is possible,” the party added.
ADC concluded by saying it will continue to operate lawfully but warned President Bola Tinubu to restrain his party’s enforcers.
“ADC remains focused on our duty to Nigerians, and we shall remain law-abiding. We will, however, resist by all lawful and necessary means. If they are not acting on his orders, President Tinubu should rein in his enforcers before it is too late,” the statement said.
