ADC ‘Factional’ Chairman Dismisses Resignation Letter As Fake

An acclaimed factional Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Nafiu Bala, has dismissed as fake a resignation letter circulating in his name, describing it as a fraudulent creation by desperate political actors bent on destabilising the party.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that Bala had, in the last few weeks, faced severe criticisms from the new leadership of the party led by former Senate President David Mark, who have disowned him, describing him as an impostor who is neither a member of the party.

The Gombe State chapter of ADC also clarified that Bala was not a registered member of the party, explaining further that his earlier inclusion into the party’s National Executive Committee was an error and a mistake.

The party pointed out that: “He has since resigned the position, with his resignation formally received and forwarded to INEC since July 21, 2025.

“The ADC leadership has therefore urged the public and media to disregard any claims or activities made by him in the name of the party.”

The ADC said Honourable Nafiu Bala has no standing in the party: “He is merely a political merchant seeking undue attention.”

But in a statement issued on Sunday, Bala’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Dr. Christopher Okechukwu, said the document dated May 18, 2025, was neither written nor signed by Bala and lacked ADC’s official insignia.

Okechukwu stressed that Bala had not resigned and remains the constitutionally recognised leader of the ADC, following due process as enshrined in the party’s constitution.

He described the letter as a desperate ploy to undermine legitimate leadership.

“The National Leadership of the African Democratic Congress under the legitimate and constitutionally recognised Acting National Chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala, hereby issues this statement to categorically deny the existence of any legitimate resignation letter from Hon. Nafiu Bala and to expose the malicious plot engineered by former National Chairman Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu and a coalition of power-seeking elements attempting to hijack the party’s structures through undemocratic means,” the statement read.

It added that the purported letter was “fabricated, fraudulent, and maliciously circulated by mischievous elements seeking to destabilise the ADC and sow discord among members.”

He accused a coalition of politicians led by ex-chairman Ralph Okey Nwosu of submitting unauthorised documents, including the fake resignation letter, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a bid to seize control of the party illegally.
