ADC Suspends Collation Of Presidential Primary Results
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has postponed the collation of results for its ongoing presidential primary election.
The announcement was made late Tuesday by the chairman of the party’s Presidential Primary Election Committee, Ikechi Emenike, who said the exercise was suspended to enable Muslim members of the party observe the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Emenike disclosed that collation for the outstanding states would now continue by 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday (today).
He explained that the delay was also caused by transportation difficulties affecting some returning officers travelling to Abuja.
“We are postponing the collation to allow our brothers and sisters to celebrate sallah, participate in the religious activity and to enable returning officers who had flight challenges to arrive Abuja later today,” Emenike said.
Before the postponement, results from 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory had already been declared by state returning officers.
States yet to conclude collation include Borno, Kebbi, Anambra, Abia, Ekiti, Ondo, Gombe, Oyo, Imo, Yobe, Nasarawa, Enugu, Benue, Osun, Adamawa, Kogi, Kano, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba and Zamfara.
