ADC Will Win June Governorship Poll In Ekiti – Bejide
- As Party Affirms State Executives
The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State, Amb. Dare Bejide, has expressed confidence that the party will record a decisive victory in the June 20 governorship election, declaring that the ADC has become a strong threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Bejide made this assertion while delivering his welcome address to party members during the ADC State Congress held at the Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. He noted that the growing strength of the party across the state signals a positive outcome at the polls.
The ADC candidate commended the efforts of the state executive members and party chairmen across the 16 local government areas, praising their commitment to strengthening the party’s structure ahead of the election.

He further revealed that the party had witnessed an influx of new members from other political parties in the last one month, stressing that the momentum has positioned the ADC for victory in the forthcoming governorship poll.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the State Congress Committee, Hon. Afolabi Akinsiku, said the exercise was conducted in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Akinsiku explained that while the party allows for both direct primaries and consensus arrangements, the Ekiti chapter adopted the consensus approach, noting that the leaders chosen were widely accepted by members.
“Our party is a coalition, and if we remain united and committed, we will win the June 20 governorship election. Even the APC emerged from a coalition. Unity is our strength,” he said.

He urged members of the party to remain focused and work diligently towards ensuring victory at the polls.
In his goodwill message, a former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, called on ADC members to remain steadfast and united in their quest to take over power in the state.
Olusola-Eleka said the presence and growing influence of the ADC are evident across Ekiti and beyond, expressing optimism that the party would emerge victorious if members remain committed.
He added, “The signs are clear. People can see and feel the impact of ADC. If we work together for the common good of the party, victory is assured.”
At the congress, over 23 members were confirmed and affirmed as the Ekiti State executive of the ADC by the committee led by Hon. Akinsiku, with Mr. Gbenga Akamo serving as secretary alongside other members.
Earlier, a screening committee led by Barrister Femi Akilo, with Hon. Mohammed Adamu Musa as secretary and Dr. Chuks Ujomar as a member, had vetted all candidates before the affirmation process.
