Osun state police command has arraigned a 34-year-old man, Adejumo Idowu before an Osogbo Magistrate court over an alleged improper use of voter’s card.
The charge sheet read in the court revealed that the accused person committed offence to wit: unlawful possession of cards and disorderly conduct.
The charge sheet stated further that the accused person received and procured one Voter’s card of other person for use at the just concluded Osun Gubernatorial election.
The offence committed, the charge sheet revealed, is contrary to and punishable under section 120(b) (d) of the Electoral Act, 2018.
According to the charge sheet, the suspect committed the offence at Alekuwodo area, Osogbo on September 27, 2018
However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the four count charges leveled against him.
The defence counsel, Mr. Tunde Adedokun prayed the court to grant the accused person bail in the most affordable and liberal terms and assured the court that he will provide a reliable surety if granted.
Presiding Magistrate, Mr. O.A Ayilara granted the bail of the accused person in the sum of N200,000 with one surety and the surety must swear to an affidavit of means.
He later adjourned the case to November 21, 2018 for mention.
