Adeleke Appoints Justice Olayinka Afolabi As Osun Acting CJ

Governor Ademola Adeleke has appointed Justice Olayinka David Afolabi as the acting Chief Judge of Osun state with immediate effect following the approval of the resolution of the House of Assembly.

The appointment of Justice Afolabi followed the Governor’s directive that the erstwhile state Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo, steps aside following the resolutions of the State House of Assembly, after allegations of abuse of office, gross misconduct, gross corruption and lack of respect of the rule of law, levelled against her.

A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed indicates that the Acting Chief Judge will be sworn-in tomorrow (Friday), by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi.

Earlier on Thursday, the National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan had restrained Adeleke from taking any action against Justice Adepele-Ojo, pending the determination of the suit filed by the later against the former, the Attorney General of Osun State, and one other.
