Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Monday, December 23, officially commissioned the temporary building of Osun Country Club in Osogbo.
Adeleke who was represented by the Commissioner for Government Affairs and Protocols, Soji Ajaigbe, lauded members of the club for the initiative, adding that the club will bring Osun indigenes and friends together, irrespective of their political affiliations.
The Governor while promising his administration’s full support for the club, urged members of the clubs to share ideas which will move the state forward.
The Commissioner, on behalf of Adeleke, said, “As the governor of this state, I am ready to support whatever will move our state forward. I am promising you my support at any given time.
“What you are doing here today is something significant. You are writing a great history. You’ve started today and I believe in the next three years, this country club would be in a greater place.
“This country club will bring us together irrespective of our political affiliation. We will all seat down and share ideas which will move our dear state forward.”
Earlier in his welcome address, the President of the club, Chief Abiola Falayajo, noted that Osun Country Club was the idea of sons and daughters of Osun State and friends.
He said the club was modelled around clubs like Lagos Tennis Club, Ikoyi Club, adding that the aim was to ensure that Osun people have a place where they can converge, share ideas and relax.
Falayajo who emphasised that the club is apolitical, said the club currently has over 130 official members, calling on people to join the train.
According to him, “The Osun Country Club is the idea of many sons and daughters of Osun State and friends. Osun Country Club is model around clubs like Lagos Tennis Club, Ikoyi Club and the likes.

“Our aim is to have something of our own in Osun State where people can come together and share ideas and relax regardless of the party in power. The have top members of both leading parties in the state as our members. We are here to share ideas in moving our state forward and leave a legacy for future generations.
“This is our temporary site put together in the last eight months as we are working on our permanent site. At the moment, we have over 130 official members of the club. We are growing rapidly and I want to urge people to come and join us. We don’t believe that there is a limit to what we can achieve.”
The social secretary of the club, Chief Dideolu Falobi, while giving insight into the social master plan of the club, said, “Today is the first end of the year party of Osun Country Club and It’s a day for us to merry and gives thanks to God.
“We have a one year social master plan for our members and non-members. First and foremost, this club will be opened from Tuesday to Sunday every week.
“Secondly, we will be having a membership night every last Friday of the month where members and their guests can come in and enjoy the ambience with a difference. During the membership night, there will be presentations on topics of interest. The idea is to make the membership night of this club a permanent feature of the social calendar of Osun State.
“Also, on quarterly basis, we will be holding a business launcheon. The idea is to generate knowledge and ideas that can make our state progress. We will invite speakers of repute who will speak to topics that are of interest to the state.”
