“Adeleke Has Not Defected To Our Party” – Osun APC Debunks Rumour, Blasts Governor’s Camp Over Fake Reports

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted widespread rumours suggesting that Governor Ademola Adeleke has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, describing the claim as false, mischievous and a deliberate ploy by the governor’s camp to mislead the public.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Director of Media and Information for the APC in Osun, Mr Mogaji Kola Olabisi, described the defection claim as “a lie from the pit of hell,” insisting that no such move had been made by the governor and that the party has not, at any level, considered Adeleke’s entry into its fold.

He stated, “We want to state categorically and unequivocally that it is a lie from the pit of hell being told by the governor and his lieutenants that the state helmsman has defected into our party, as nothing of such is happening or being contemplated at all levels of our party.”

The statement also dismissed alleged reports that the Presidency had mounted pressure on Adeleke to join the ruling party, warning that such narratives are pure fabrications being peddled by political opportunists seeking relevance through misinformation.

Olabisi noted that it would be constitutionally improper and politically impossible for the governor to join the APC without the knowledge and consent of key party leaders including the National Chairman, Mr Ali Dalori, former interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and the Osun APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal.

“It is an impossible utopia for a governor to defect into our party without the knowledge of its National Chairman, Mr Ali Dalori, Chief Bisi Akande, our leader Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, state chairman Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the Agba Osun and others,” he added.

The APC spokesman also ridiculed the “ecstasy” among Adeleke’s aides over an “imaginary defection,” insisting that the party has neither held talks nor received any overture from the governor.

He further accused the governor’s camp of attempting to launder Adeleke’s political image by falsely linking his name with that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The nauseating development is the constant lies being reeled out by the governor’s lieutenants and social media emergency writers that it was the forward-looking, hardworking and proactive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has been making overtures to Governor Adeleke – which is nothing but a mere concoction,” the statement reads.

While warning members of the public to disregard such baseless propaganda, the party assured its members and supporters that the APC remains intact, united, and focused on delivering its mandate in Osun State.

The party reiterated that it would not be stampeded into admitting political actors who have persistently maligned and undermined its structure, even as it described the entire defection narrative as an orchestrated lie.

“We make bold to state for the umpteenth time that Governor Adeleke hasn’t joined our party while we are assuring our teeming members and supporters that our party is intact and all is well with it,” the statement concluded.
