Adeleke, Ooni, IGP, Others To Attend Coronation Of New Olojudo Of Ido-Osun

The ancient town of Ido-Osun in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State is set to play host to a parade of royalty, political juggernauts and cultural icons, as preparations reach fever pitch for the coronation of the 47th Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Olayinka Oyetunde Ishola Jokotola.

According to the Coronation Central Planning Committee (CCPC), led by Hon. Sanya Okunade, the highly anticipated event will span four days—from Thursday, 22nd May to Sunday, 25th May, 2025—featuring an array of religious, cultural and entertainment programmes lined up to usher in a new chapter in the town’s history.

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is expected to grace the coronation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, 24th May, at Aje International Market, Ido-Osun.

Also billed to attend is the Royal Father of the Day, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. Other top dignitaries expected include the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; members of the National Assembly; the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun; and several first-class traditional rulers from across Yorubaland.

Pre-coronation activities will commence on Thursday with an interdenominational prayer service and a football final at Ido-Osun Grammar School.

A Gala Night featuring top comedians and artistes will follow later that evening at Nike Gallery and King Market Square.

On Friday, chieftaincy titles will be conferred on deserving individuals, alongside a special Jumat service at the town’s central mosque.

Sunday, 25th May, will round off the festivities with a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ido-Osun, in appreciation to the Almighty for a peaceful transition and the beginning of a new royal era.

The CCPC has called on all sons and daughters of the town to take active part in the historic occasion, promising a well-organised and memorable ceremony.

OSUN DEFENDER recalls that the Osun State Executive Council had on November 29, 2024 approved Oba Jokotola’s appointment after a rigorous selection process.
