Adeleke Reaffirms Commitment To Malaria Elimination As Osun Receives $15.1m Intervention Commodities
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and supporting programmes aimed at eliminating malaria and other preventable diseases across the state.
Governor Adeleke made this known on Tuesday while receiving the team from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, through the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), alongside the Roll Back Malaria Partnership to End Malaria, the Global Fund Malaria Nigeria Country Team, the Society for Family Health, (SFH) Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Institute of Human Virology (IHVN) and other Malaria Partners at the Government House, Osogbo.
The visit, which was led by the Representative of the Hon. Minister of Health and Social Welfare and National Coordinator-NMEP, Dr Nnenna Ogbulafor aimed to secure political commitment, stakeholder engagement, and resource mobilization for the upcoming Insecticide-Treated Net (ITN) Mass Campaign and other key malaria interventions.
Receiving the team, the governor said his administration would continue to collaborate with development partners to reduce malaria burden in the state.
“Malaria remains a major public health challenge, and we cannot afford to relent. My administration will continue to invest in primary healthcare, work with partners like the Federal Ministry of Health and Society for Family Health, and ensure every Osun citizen has access to preventive tools like insecticide-treated nets. A healthy Osun is a productive Osun,” Adeleke said.

He added, “We appreciate the Federal Ministry of Health and our partners at the Society for Family Health for this intervention. Government alone cannot eliminate malaria. This collaboration shows what is possible when we work together. Osun State will provide the political will and logistics to make this 2026 net campaign a success.”
In her remarks, Dr Ogbulafor disclosed that under the Global Fund-supported SIP 7 Grant, Osun State is receiving malaria intervention commodities valued at about $15.1 million.
She added that “the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare commends the government of Osun State for its commitment to improving health outcomes.”
Ogbulafor urged the state to continue prioritising malaria control to ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential malaria services, especially at the primary healthcare level.
