Adeleke Reduces Workdays For Some Workers

Governor Ademola Adeleke, has approved a reduction in the number of days public servants in Osun State are required to work each week, in a bid to lessen their transportation costs.

The governor also announced an extension of palliative payments to public servants for the next two months.

This was contained in a statement issued by the governorโ€™s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Tuesday.

The statement indicated that the approval was outlined in a circular from the Office of the Head of Service.

The statement read, โ€œBy this circular, therefore, and until another directive is given, the working day schedules for public servants in the state have been approved as follows:

โ€œPublic servants on GL.01 to GL.10 โ€“ three days a week; public servants on GL.12 to GL.17 โ€“ four days a week.โ€

The circular further noted that these arrangements exclude those on essential duties, such as medical personnel, security officers, political office holders, and accounting officers.

โ€œIt is also important to note that the arrangement regarding which days each public servant in the above categories will work shall be organised by the accounting officers in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government.โ€

The statement added, โ€œThe governor has also graciously approved the continuation of palliative payments to public servants in the state for the next two months, pending the commencement of the new minimum wage.

โ€œAll accounting officers of Ministries, Departments, and government agencies, including Local Governments, have been directed to comply.โ€
