Adeleke’s Aide To Drag Osun APC Spokesperson To Court For Alleged Libel
The chairman of Osun State Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Ibukun Fadipe, had threatened to drag the All Progressives Congress in Osun State and its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, before the court over a statement issued where he was alleged to have empowered hoodlums to disrupt the forthcoming August 15, gubernatorial election.
In a notice of defamation dated March 18, a copy obtained by OSUN DEFENDER, Fadipe through his lawyer, Bukola Onifade, said Olabisi released a statement on behalf of the APC where he alleged him of convening a secret meeting with some suspected hoodlums and
empowering them with cash to procure dangerous weapons with the aim of disrupting the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
The notice which was addressed to the Osun APC and its spokesperson noted that the press statement also alleged Fadipe of involvement in the murder of one Otunba Raheem Ade Komolafe.
The lawyer said the allegations were made against his client without any concrete proof of evidence.
He noted that the statement has tarnished the image of his client in the face of the general public, demanding its withdrawal and retraction with a public apology.
The notice said the APC spokesperson must comply with the demands within seven days of receiving the letter, warning that necessary steps within the ambit of the law would be taken if the demands were not met.

“It is pertinent to note that these allegations made by you against our
client is defamatory, derogatory, unfounded and without substance, and it
has tarnished the image of our client in the face of the general public and
couple with the fact that our client is contesting the Ife/ljesa Senatorial seat where he came from.
“That our client demands that you withdraw and retract the said Press
Statements with a public apology and make publications of the same in the Print Media and all Social media platforms which you have earlier used to
propagate the act of defamation.
“Therefore, in respect of the above, you are hereby given a SEVEN (7) DAYS
notice to comply with the above demands as we have the instructions of
our Client to take any steps within the ambit of the law bother civil and
criminal in enforcing our Client’s Rights,” the notice further read.
Meanwhile, OSUN DEFENDER reliably gathered that a libel suit has been filed by the SUBEB boss against the APC spokesperson.
