Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has confirmed the absence of combative midfielder Alhassan Yusuf for the team’s Group A clash against the Elephants of Cote on Thursday.
Peseiro disclosed this during a press conference on Wednesday.
Yusuf will miss the game after picking a thigh injury in the Super Eagles clash with Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
The coach, however, said the midfielder will be available for the Super Eagles’ last group game against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau.
He said, “Yusuf is out of the game against Cote d’Ivoire. We hope he will be able to play the next game against Guinea-Bissau.
“The good thing is that it is not a serious injury. He did the test yesterday and it was not something serious.”
The Royal Antwerp midfielder made his competitive debut for the Super Eagles against the Nzalang Nacional.
Peseiro could turn to Joe Aribo or Kelechi Iheanacho as his replacement.
